Very common (may affect more than 1 in 10 people)
- Dizziness
- Headache
- Double vision
- Nausea
Common (may affect up to 1 in 10 people)
- Depression, confusion, insomnia
- Problems with balance, coordination, memory or concentration
- Sleepiness, tremor, pins and needles, speech difficulty
- Blurred vision, vertigo, ringing in the ears
- Vomiting, constipation, wind, indigestion, dry mouth, diarrhoea
- Itching, rash, muscle spasms
- Unsteady walking, tiredness, irritability, falls
Serious effects reported (uncommon or frequency not known)
- Slow heart rate, heart block or other abnormal heart rhythms, fainting
- Suicidal thoughts or behaviour
- Psychosis, hallucinations, aggression or agitation
- Severe allergic and skin reactions (including DRESS, Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
- Blood disorders such as agranulocytosis

Warnings & Precautions
Do not use
- If allergic to lacosamide or any other ingredient
- With known second- or third-degree atrioventricular (AV) block
Take special care
- Suicidal thoughts have been reported with antiepileptic medicines; seek medical advice if they occur
- Heart conduction problems or severe heart disease, and medicines that affect heart conduction
- Dizziness may increase the risk of falls
- New or worsening myoclonic seizures are possible
- Do not stop treatment suddenly
Pregnancy
- Do not use unless clearly necessary; women who could become pregnant should discuss this with their doctor
Driving
- Dizziness and blurred vision may affect driving
Interactions
- Medicines that prolong the PR interval, including sodium-channel antiepileptics, and antiarrhythmicsuse with caution
- Strong CYP2C9 or CYP3A4 inhibitors (for example fluconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, ritonavir, clarithromycin)may increase lacosamide levels
- Strong enzyme inducers (for example rifampicin, St John's wort)may lower lacosamide levels
